Road Less Travelled

I have never been a traditional writer. Not by a long shot! But I do have a lot of respect for those authors that followed the traditional publishing path. There was a time when this was the writer's biggest "want"... a contract, a respected editor and/or agent, and the force of a publishing house behind your precious words. This is still a want for many authors today. But there is so much more freedom then there was in the past.

Frankly, I look at authors like Marie Force and I see a woman braving a new path. I'm sure it was often like searching blindly in a New England snowstorm, but she managed to persevere and flourish. Her work today outsells most authors and her success started as an e-Pub.

There is something to be said for straying from your charted course, or heading for the unknown. Where would all be if no one had ever ventured out on our own? That's anyone's guess.

The truth is that there is no real "true" path to publishing. Either way is right, for someone.
