Quote of the week...

This is a great quote. I used to give a workshop on dialogue and one of my tips is to make sure that when you are writing, you ARE your characters. It is the only way to ensure that the character is multi-dimensional and that his/her voice is pure and strong.

If you simply write what you want the characters to say and do and feel, the reader will never connect with your character and you will lose readers.

Readers are smart and sensitive and they love the authors who drag them into the characters as well as the stories.

Getting inside a character is why you can never say that you will follow your outline to the letter. You never know for sure where a character will take you until you live in them. Often they surprise you!

Love that quote and absolutely agree with the validity of its sentiments.

I would love to say something witty or profound enough that someday ends up in a book on famous quotes...
